Although she also works directly in space and three-dimensional works, drawing is her most familiar terrain. She combines drawing with writing - in a kind of uninterrupted stream of consciousness. Close to the languages of underground comics, or children’s books or young people’s schoolbooks, Carla Filipe manages to maintain her own authorial voice in her works, precisely to the extent that she gradually deconstructs paradigms of artistic proficiency and originality.
