Similar to a certain type of realism - that allows the viewer to quickly identify the contents shown - this artist nonetheless maintains a continuous and calculated distance from reality, to the extent that the scale or composition of his paintings and sculptures eventually reiterates the artificiality of their micro-narratives: i.e., these works conjure up a visually trapped universe and that which we may term paradoxical simulated realism.
